Media Statement from Maggie A. Lewis Regarding State of the City Address

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 29, 2019

Media Statement regarding the Indianapolis State of the City Address from Maggie A. Lewis, Majority Leader, Indianapolis City-County Council

"As the mayor continues to address the topics of public safety, infrastructure and neighborhoods, issues such as food deserts and homelessness are requiring our attention, and we must make sure we pay attention to the needs of the families whose lives are being impacted."

"The mayor has introduced a regional approach for addressing our road and infrastructure issues. We should all remain open to learning more about the plans for engaging our residents to ensure city leaders accurately capture the voices of our community. Public safety plans outlined for working with our youth will teach stronger conflict resolution skills. This idea will provide a pathway for better decision making and serve as a deterrent toward compromising decisions. Finally, we should all celebrate the successes we have achieved through investing in projects designed to improve the quality of life for families who call Indianapolis home."

"The state of our city is strong, but there will always be more work for us to do. Indianapolis belongs to all of us, and our city's success depends on us. Let’s work together to find solutions for our problems, identify new opportunities, and strengthen our position as a premier city in our state and nation."
